Profile and History

Setaş Colorcenter is a chemical company founded in 1966, built upon expertise in color science. It began its journey by supplying products to the textile industry and has since expanded its product range by producing dyes, chemicals, and specialty effects for the paper, plastics, and metal industries.

Leveraging its unique location that connects Europe and Asia, Setaş Colorcenter effectively facilitates cross-cultural communication and is a preferred manufacturer and business partner both domestically and internationally, thanks to its high-quality and diverse product range, fast logistics network, and dedicated technical service.

By bringing together its advanced technical infrastructure, R&D activities conducted across various industries, and its experienced research team under the Technology Center, Setaş has established a multidisciplinary working system. Through this system, the company aims to develop joint projects with its customers, collaborate with universities, and participate in international research projects to achieve innovative and environmentally friendly breakthroughs.

Setaş Colorcenter has become a leader in its fields of operation in Türkiye and markets its products across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America. Through its Logistic Center, the company has strengthened its competitive advantage both locally and globally by implementing practices such as “direct sales from bonded warehouses to customers for imported products” and “lean supply systems for domestically produced goods,” thereby offering customers minimal inventory costs and fast supply capabilities.

Production Activities

Setaş Color Center continues its operations with three different production facilities located in the Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone, as well as a pigment production facility in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In these facilities, dyes, auxiliary chemicals, optical brighteners, electrostatic powder coatings, and masterbatches are produced for the textile, paper, metal, and plastics industries.

Production is carried out using advanced technology equipment with a focus on efficiency, environmental compliance, high quality, and zero workplace accidents. The manufacturing processes include various chemical and physical operations such as esterification, diazo reactions, methylation, coupling, injection, and molding.

Production Capacities

Reaction Department: In this department, which has a production capacity of 6,000 tons, liquid reactive, liquid acrylic, and liquid sulfur dyes are produced.

Dispersion Department: With a production capacity of 10,000 tons, this department produces pigment and vat dispersions, as well as liquid disperse dyes.

Chemicals Department: This department has a production capacity of 25,000 tons and produces auxiliary chemicals for the textile industry, as well as optical brighteners for the paper and textile industries.

Masterbatch Department: With a production capacity of 10,000 tons, this department produces PET, PE, PP, and PA-based colored, black, and functional masterbatches for the fiber, packaging, and cable industries.

Electrostatic Powder Coating Department: This department has a production capacity of 6,000 tons and produces epoxy, PES, and hybrid electrostatic powder coatings.

Company History

Setaş took its first step into commercial life in 1966, starting with the production and representation of dyes and chemical products for the textile and leather industries.

By 1987, Setaş had advanced its research capabilities and achieved its first production of disperse dyes.

In 1989, Setaş decided to discontinue its representation activities and focus entirely on its own production.

In 1997, the company began producing printing dyes for cellulose fibers, as well as acid and metal complex dyes for polyamide fibers.

In 2002, Setaş became the first and only Turkish member of the prestigious association ETAD (The Ecological and Toxicological Association of Dyes and Organic Pigments Manufacturers), which consists of leading global dye manufacturers working on the protection of human health and the environment. Major organizations around the world were engaging in similar initiatives with the shared goal of safeguarding our common future.

In 2003, Setaş achieved its first production of organic synthetic pigments and, in the same year, began producing liquid acrylic dyes for the textile and paper industries.

In 2004, the company started masterbatch production. In this important segment of the chemical industry, Setaş quickly proved itself and became one of the largest suppliers in Türkiye.

In 2007, Setaş began producing oils used in fiber lubrication technologies and invested in a new business line in the same year.

The electrostatic powder coating production facility became operational in 2007, introducing the metal coating industry to Setaş colors under the Setacoat brand.

As denim continued to evolve with fashion-driven special effects, Setaş initiated a chemical production project in 2010 to develop new products for this sector. Türkiye’s global leadership in denim production became a driving force behind Setaş’s R&D activities.

To bring together various chemistry-based disciplines and create synergy for new developments, Setaş opened its Technology Center in September 2011. The principle that strength comes from effective communication and knowledge sharing is one of the core approaches of this center.

The electrostatic powder coating division, established in 2007, moved to a new 11,000 m² facility in the Çerkezköy Organized Industrial Zone in 2014, increasing its capacity to 6,000 tons per year.

On September 6, 2016, Setaş Kimya joined the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

In line with the evolving world, Setaş will continue to strengthen its existing units and invest in new ventures.
